hello out there in tv land.
alyssa and i's journey has officially gone intercontinental! on what has somehow managed to be the most hassle free leg of our journey we are officially in ecuador. my compatriot and i'll be spending the next month doing some volunteer work at an organic farm along the coast. it promises to be both educational and fun - kinda like reading rainbow but with less lavar burton and more machetes and fresh tomatos.
as we'll be off in the wilds of ecuador neither of us is gonna be around el interweb much for the next couple weeks. but rest assured we're doing fine and well this side of the andes and we'll check in soon.
oh, and some internet love goes out to my cousin katie who's getting married this week. my family's gonna road trip down to alabama in my great aunt's lincoln continental.
my parent's are officially awesome.

screw mr webster, it's just plain wrong
Main Entry: lit·er·al·ly Pronunciation: \ˈli-tə-rə-lē, ˈli-trə-lē, ˈli-tər-lē\
Function: adverb
Date: 1533
1 : in a literal sense or manner : actually
2 : in effect : virtually
usage Since some people take sense 2 to be the opposite of sense 1, it has been frequently criticized as a misuse. Instead, the use is pure hyperbole intended to gain emphasis, but it often appears in contexts where no additional emphasis is necessary.
ok, so mr merriam and mr webster admit that the word is often used ironically to add emphasis. sure. but that doesn't change the fact that the word literally does not mean figuratively.

long ride all the way to argentina, so far from home
i haven't completely lost my mind, i swear.
well, i suppose that's a relative statement, idn't it? alyssa and i are currently back in the mountains after a few days of much needed rest and relaxation along the beaches of the pacific coast. this sojournin' can be exhausting, don'tcha know. next up we're off to Colon to do some gawking at the panama canal.
it's an engineering marvel, i'm told.
then we head to panama city and hop a jet plane bound for south america. updates to follow.

p.s. how's the weather?
